BROOKLYN, NY – Early in his teenage years, Kevin Hudson – who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York – a friend changed his world when he introduced him to the music of Childish Gambino. Though Hudson had always been into writing and had a passion for music, it wasn’t until Childish Gambino that his eyes were opened to a whole world of possibilities within the music industry. As he recalls, it was almost like the popular hip-hop artist was speaking directly to the younger version of himself and offering a personal challenge.

“That was the moment when I had an epiphany and told myself to follow my passion and give music a try,” Hudson said. “Writing is my passion and I need to write in order to get some things out. Childish Gambino touches on a variety of areas that inspires me and helps me to speak out and touch on. He connects well and he’s versatile and he doesn’t put on a persona that people would expect. I’m also inspired by artists like The Weeknd, Kanye West and Michael Jackson.”

From that moment forward, Hudson began dedicating himself to music. He adopted the stage name Konfetti because he felt like it best represented his “charismatic and energetic” personality, and confetti is something that “brings a party up.”

“I’m an ecstatic and energetic person, and if I can bring the party up I want to be that person,” he said.“

Over time he has developed a distinct pop, R&B and hip-hop sound that is already starting to grab the attention of fans throughout New York and along the East Coast. His first single, “I Don’t Cuff,” was released in April and has seen a number of plays on the various digital distribution sites on which it currently resides. It is an original composition, including the beat.

He has followed up that success with another single called “Do it Yourself,” which he released on Oct. 1. He said it’s a song that he hopes with motivate people who hear it.

“It’s basically a song that’s talking about how as humans we need to take initiative and be go-getters,” he said. “It’s supposed to be uplifting. The message itself is optimistic, motivational and inspirational. That’s the way it is with most of my music. The message behind my music is what makes me stand out. It has actual substance to it. With ‘I Don’t Cuff’ I was catering to what people want. What ultimately stands out about my music is the message. It’s relatable and touches on topics that other artists don’t necessarily speak out on – like depression or suicide or other real-life scenarios.”

In addition to his new single, Konfetti said he’s also working on a new EP called “Phase One.” It’s an EP that he said will highlight more of his versatility, with more pop songs and sounds that will try to appeal to a broader audience. He hopes to release that EP later this fall.
